50in09-05: Palomino

Well, this isn't much but it's a bit better in real life. Slightly.
/EDIT. [link] has a bit better color definition. But still not right.
/EDIT. 05032009 new image. Took the painting outside even though it's snowing. It's slightly better representation but a bit gray.

For 50 breeds, #5: Palomino.
Looks more like the haflinger.

Oils & graphite pencil on panel, 38x42 cm.

The orange-brown splotches on the horse's bum, cheek etc. is (wet) gold paint. It just doesn't photograph well.

Bg is IRL almost white, really pale blue. Shadows (under belly, muzzle...) are mostly graphite pencil with a touch of Sap Green.
I'm not at all sure about the bg. Had something completely else on mind but... Just kind of lost interest seeing how majorly I butchered my vision of the painting.

Oh well, this is one of those crappy things you have to get out of your system to be able to do something better.
