Artist's Comments

Part of my 100 Theme Challenge. Theme is "Break Away" (no kidding Sherlock).
Here it is finally.

/EDIT. Finally remembered something. One of the inspiring factors whilst painting this: Passionworks - Breaking Away (listen sample online at [link])

This is just your average horsy stuff. Nothing special, I just wanted to paint "portrait in motion". Also tried to get the look of a certain horse on canvas.

Comments always appreciated, usually preferred to faving.

:faint: This is so... :faint: Damn, I must stop doing that! :lmao: :faint: Seriously, I am so loving this, my friend. I cannot see any flaws, really! It is like :omg: :faint: I love the position of the head because it really shows movement and tells me that this horse is on the run. The title is therefor very suitable of course. I love the way you manage to point out the expression each time! What I also enjoy is practically "studying" your works; I have a thing for gradients, y'know and you are one of my friends that does it best. The anatomy of a horse is sooo difficult to me but you create one after the other! You have to respect that. The manes look so soft swirly; very realistic too. But as usual, the eye makes me feel squishy inside; so sad and beauiful. :tears: :faint: You have done it once more my friend; your technique is admirable. And by the way, I need to :+fav: this!

:lmao: It's in no way perfect, but thank you still... The secret to my anatomy skills: draw only the head and you can't go wrong. ;D
Thank you,, thank you.

wow this is.. pretty amazing. I read the tutorial. and alot of your process is real great. I'll probably read it again when I have more time. the effect you get feels alot like a finished painting, and is really well done. it takes awhile for me to get anything emotional out of it, but it definately communicates on a profound level. there's really nothing to critque here. other than, I'm not a big fan of animals in general. (and I'm sort of scared of horses) but that doesn't stop me from appreciating it. but it might communicate across more boundries if you added more elements to it, as a more finished piece, meaning, if you added a detailed landscape in the background, or some foliage in the forground. something along those lines. would make it all come together. and if it all had the same qality and professionalism that everything else I see on here has, then it would make the peice quite breath taking and even more communicative, and emotional.

this is really amazing. I'll definately be studing your tutorial. looking at it some more, maybe the horse could have more fluidity, or movement to it, but only in the sense that, there is always somewhere to go, something to improve, it certainly has movement, and flow to it, very much so, but it could be improved upon.

Sooner or later, in this life or the next, your actions will have a corresponding and equal reaction...so don't do anything too stupid...
